Abstract

Distribution of saturation potential temperature with height for summer and winter for some northern hemisphere stations are presented both diagrammatically and in tabular forms. From these vertical distribution of total entropy of air with height and latitude can be obtained. The maximum height upto which convective instability extends is found t be 7 to 8 g km in summer near latitude 25°.
