Migration of seismic activity and prediction of active regions

Seismic source regions in different geological provinces of India exhibit systematic patterns of migration. Over 6000 earthquake epicentres have been utilised to establish the migration of active seismic centres in the Himalayan foot-hills region, Indo-Gangetic plains and Deccan plateau. The velocity of migration has been computed for different source and may be used to predict the active area.
