Graphical method fails to give a reliable estimate of the velocity when the refracting boundary is uneven. A numerical routine is suggested in which the uneven boundary's arc lengths are estimated by straight line segments. This arc length method is tested for a hypothetical and some field data. Results indicate that there is a significant improvement in the estimate of the velocity when the refracting boundary is not flat.
