Pressure fluctuations associated with thunderstorms

Abstract

Based on certain plausible assumptions, a formula is derived to give a. quantitative estimate of quasi-static perturbation pressure associated with the thunderstorm "high". This shows a theoretical possibility a though not a theoretical necessity of a severe hailstorm being accompanied by a pressure "dip". A few actual cases are quoted in qualitative support of this theoretical result.
