Hailstorms at Gauhati on 18 March 1961

Several hailstorms occurred at Gauhati airport on 18.19 March 1961. The hailstones of one of storms had opaque cores and density of 0.8 grams per c.c. On immersion in kerosene oil, stones were found to ejecting air bubbles. Approximately 2210 hailstones fell in one square meter area.
