Abstract

In this paper the diurnal, monthly and annual frequencies of squalls at 22 stations of India based on available records up to 1962 have been discussed. The mean seasonal percentage frequencies and the mean frequencies of occurrence of squalls from different directions in eight points of compass have also been worked out. Maps showing percentage frequencies of squalls with reference to their duration and maximum speed reached have been prepared and a comparison between the mean annual frequency of squalls and all India thunderstorm frequency has been made.
